65th Infantry Regiment

In 1943, there were 18,000 Puerto Ricans under arms in the 65th Infantry Regiment. In January the 65th embarked for Jackson Barracks, New Orleans and then Fort Eustis, Virginia, in preparation for overseas deployment to North Africa with 146 officers and 3,106 enlisted men.
